First post, and it's regarding my first purchase of a snake...
I rescued a leopard gecko (Lava) and immediately purchased a 20-gallon long tank for her. Days after setting it up, I was able to upgrade her to a used 40 gallon with front doors that I got for $30.
SO, now I might as well get a baby for that new 20 gallon! And it's gonna be a snake. But I feel like many places on the internet say reptiles are happy in a certain size tank, and it really ends up not being the truth.
I have done some light research before it occurred to me to ask here. Here are some that I've read can supposedly "thrive" in a 20-gallon long. Any info/opinions on how true that is AND which makes the best pets are super appreciated!
(I should mention, I would like to handle my new pal. I was leaning toward a rough green snake but I read they don't really like being handled..)
