Went to a pet parade today. Took Monty the ball python, and my daughter took her Hermann's tortoise, Caleb. Monty was an amazing ambassador for reptiles today, many children approached to ask questions and touch, a few adults braved their fear to touch him as well.
Weve been dealing with a nasty bacterial infection for several weeks. First vet advised on treating topically, but topical antibiotics were not the proper treatment for the strain of bacteria he has. Sought a second opinion.. did a surgery to remove part of his tail. First time, vet removed as much as she could and tried to save the hemipenes.. and hoped some strong antibiotics would take care of the infected tissue.. nope.. second surgery to remove all infected tissues.. and unfortunately the hemipenes had to be removed as well. Vet seems confident that he has a good chance now that the infected tissue is gone. He will be on a strong course of antibiotics for a while as well.
Hes still his sassy self and seems to be glad to be home.
And hes now my most expensive animal.. he doesnt even like me.. good thing I like him.
