This is our sweet girl Thorne. We've just recently found out she's impacted. We're not 100% sure why yet as her husbandry was spot on. She will be going in for surgery on the 21st. We are so worried. We're aware that anesthesia can be hard on many beardies.
Thorne was a gift for our 9 year old son. He's severely ADHD and Thorne has been a real blessing for him. We were certain the interest in a bearded dragon would fade (as many things do with ADHD) but this boy was steadfast. He researched the care and needs of bearded dragons for over 6 months and was regularly quizzed on the info before we committed. He provides 90% of her care and needs, only really needing help to deep clean her enclosure once a month. I'm happy to say it's been 6 months and he's still head over heels for her. She's taught him responsibility, consistency, compassion and how to be calm and patient. There have been so many positive behavioral changes in our son since he became Thorne's human.
If she doesn't make it our son will be absolutely devastated. Please give us some positive experiences from beardies recovering after surgery! Evin Marshall
