Lenny/Lennette the 12 year old Hermaphroditic Savannah (Bosc's) Monitor! They were surrendered as a rescue to us about half a year ago now and they were severely overweight. Unfortunately their original owner had to leave them with family and that family chose a rodent based diet for them. They arrived the size of a balloon and are still not quite where we would like them to be, though they are doing amazing by comparison. As old as they are and with severe MBD, they still have the food drive to get active and move around for a treat. We intend to give them an amazing life for the rest of their time and continue to use her story to educate those about animal obesity and the ensuing problems. Obesity in reptiles tends to be just as, if not more severe as found in mammals; meaning a severely shortened lifespan and a plethora of health problems.
Stay tuned for lots of animal health & husbandry education. Please do plenty of research and make sure you have everything to a science before taking in any animal, I'm sure if you had to be abducted against your will you'd at least expect the same!
