Reptile breeder. I have grown up around animals my entire life and currently I own dart frogs, fish, turtles, geckos, a dog, and millipedes. I love my animals and my alone time ☺️
Along with breeding reptiles, I also pet sit and I am taking lessons to work as a dog trainer and farrier.

Gargoyle Gecko question! Please help me figure this out as I have done lots of research but can’t find much.
Hey everyone! So I've been breeding gargoyle geckos for years now and have never had a single issue. About 1 year ago I hatched a baby with an underbite that he was born with, and is growing slightly slower then usual. None of the 20+ babies I've hatched over the many years from the same pair has ever had it before so I doubt it's genetics, then also he has gotten the same amount of calcium intake just like all of his siblings, and the mother always has a proper calcium intake as I check often and she's never been deficient in it and I always make sure to keep everyone and everything at the proper dose and level.
The incubator didn't fluctuate in temperature (other then ofc -1 or +1 degrees Fahrenheit from time to time), the other gecko from the same clutch is fine and healthy and growing at a normal pace.
Besides the underbite and slow growth development, this gecko is completely fine. He had one of the most friendly and outgoing personalities of all my gargoyle geckos. He always has eaten well for me and loves a good roach! 🪳
With all of this in mind, what could have caused the underbite and slow growth rate in this one gecko?

Thank you!!! 🦎

My leachie also had a jaw deformity as a baby. From my research it is most likely caused by a calcium deficiency. Just because the siblings are fine doesn't mean he didn't have issues- babies aren't exact copies after all, and Mom could have been low on calcium on the last egg. Was that babies' egg different at all? Anyway I fed my baby Pangea Growth and Breeding for the first year and a half or so and he grew out of it. I'm not sure what a baby leachie's growth rate should look like but he's almost a foot long at 2 so I think he's fine. Personally I would up his calcium intake for a bit/increase UVA/UVB and see if that makes a difference. There's a great book by Alan Repashy and a few other people on leachies, and another on the rest of Rhacodactilus. It's a bit expensive and imo not great on the behavioral aspects but for me was really helpful on the breeding/health aspects. Hope that helps!

I’m not too familiar with this gecko species. All I can say is that I suspect it’s simply a smaller individual. I’ve seen something similar with one of my ball pythons , he’s almost a year old now and about 55–60 cm long. He eats absolutely fantastic (and proportionally the most compared to his body weight), yet the other two I bought this summer and fall (currently 5 and 2.5 months old) are already much bigger and same sice, even though they eat less and sometimes skip meals.

I’d recommend not worrying too much but keeping an eye on the animal. It’s best not to sell it before it’s fully grown. As long as it looks healthy and keeps eating well, everything should really be fine.

Anyone work with aquariums? They're new to me and I have no idea what this is! You can see it's almost like webbing but not quite and part of it seemed to attach on the back and has turned green if you can see that in the photos... no fish in here yet, I'm letting the aqaurium grow out a bit

It looks to be either Hair Algea or a Bacteria colony. Whats your light exposure time? How often do you do water changes? How long has this aquarium been set up? What are the water parameters?

Most likely a bacteria colony, newly established planted tank?

Anyone know her morph? She looks like a normal but her stripes on her tail are vertical. She's a rescue so I do not know her lineage, also it seems like she may have lost part or all of her tail which could also affect the patterns, is that correct?

Trying to figure out ideas for what to pair with my crested male. He's a pinstripe, harlequin, cream, white wall, and overall high end from Tikis Geckos. Any ideas? I can post a picture today of him
