Sterling Serpents was officially established in 2012, in Buffalo NY.

Prior to launching, I had ~15 years of experience keeping and breeding a wide variety of reptile and amphibian species.

I became very interested in reptile genetics during my time as an undergraduate , and began breeding ball python morphs in 2008-2009.

In 2010, I graduated with a BS in Biology (Molecular/Cellular Biology), and began ramping up breeding efforts while beginning my graduate education.

In 2011, I obtained an MS in Molecular Biology/Biochemistry, and began a PhD program while ramping up breeding efforts.

In 2012, after completing my PhD Qualification Exam, I officially launched Sterling Serpents. At that time, I was predominantly breeding Western Hognose snakes and Ball Python morphs.

I completed my PhD in 2015 (Microbiology/Microbial Ecology) and moved from NY to North Carolina to pursue postdoctoral research at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. This transition required me to drastically reduce breeding operations, and prior to the move, I had sold off 90% of my collection.

Upon completing postdoctoral research and beginning a professor position at Duke University, I've decided to dedicate more time to the hobby!

Sterling Serpents is primarily working with geckos now (Uroplatus, Leachianus, and some others from New Caledonia), but also breeds Western Hognose Snakes, Ball Pythons, and a variety of others!

Here's a pairing that was just introduced this weekend. (Axanthic Superconda Het Albino x Albino Het Axanthic)

Very excited for the babies from this pair!

This is the last male I have avaialble from 2022-2023 season.

He was originally a prospective holdback in case one of my older males ended up not tolerating a new pairing, but now that they are getting along, I have no need to hold this boy back!

Moro Island R. leachianus
Probable Male, incubated at 80F.
Feeding primarily on Pangea (multiple flavors, but prefers "with insects".
